Hi! I'm a self-taught digital artist and visual novel creator living in Riga, Latvia. My name’s Rivars, and I build cozy, romantic, dramatic, sad mysterious worlds - one panel, one game or one illustration at a time. I wasn’t always an artist. I studied Computer Science, earned my Master’s degree, and followed a more traditional path… until one day I picked up a stylus and couldn't stop. What began as a small passion quickly took over every free moment. Now, between parenting two wonderfully feral kids, I spend my time making art and storytelling through visual novels. MY WORK SO FAR I released my first VN in 2015, and since then, I’ve completed 5 games - 3 free, 2 commercial - under the name Rivars Studio . I loved reading fanfiction, I could easily stay up all night devouring story after story. But sometimes, those stories didn’t go the way I wanted them to. That’s when a thought hit me: why isn’t anyone writing fanfictions with choices? Something where the reader could actually influence how the story unfolds? Later on, I discovered Japanese visual novels, and they felt like the perfect answer. Not only could the reader choose what happens, but they could also see the story come to life through visuals. It seemed like a dream format. But at the time, I didn’t have the skills for that - I couldn’t draw well yet, and writing anything remotely interesting felt completely out of reach (it still feels like that lol). So I put the idea aside. Years later, after a lot of practice in drawing, I decided to try and make a game. The process made me so excited and happy, I knew I wanted to keep going. After finishing three free Harry Potter-themed visual novels, I finally felt ready to create something original of my own. All the intense drawing that went into making those games helped me grow so much as an artist. And while this Patreon was originally made to support my VN projects, over time it became harder to juggle commissions, game development, and personal art just for fun. So I decided to shift my focus here more toward sharing my artwork. That said, I still plan to continue making visual novels, just at my own pace, when I have both the time and inspiration to do so.
